Adam and Eve

Eve
formed by the Creator’s hand
on the sixth day of Creation week
God’s gift to man
Adam
who was formed
of the dust of the ground
by the Creator’s hand
and became alive
when He breathed into his nostrils
the breath of life.

Eve
made of a rib from Adam’s side
she was formed to be his bride
and companion for life
Adam called her Eve
since she was the mother
of all human beings.
The two were made for each other
made to live forever
in a garden of pristine
and natural beauty,
Eden.

They had everything
for their pleasure
beautiful flowers and stately trees
food that they would just pick
and eat
life could not have been more perfect
enjoying face to face communion
with their Maker,
what more could they ask for?

One day Eve was tricked
into thinking she was not enough
that she could be like God
when she was already like God.
That old serpent stirred up
trouble in paradise
he deceived Eve
so she believed a lie
that she would not die
so she ate of the fruit
that was not to be eaten.
When Eve told Adam
what she had done
he decided he would rather die
than live without Eve
so he too ate of the fruit
that was not to be eaten.

And that day
they started dying
that day
they lost the garb of light
they were clothed in
that day
they hid themselves
when the Creator came calling
in the cool of the evening
that day
they could no longer stand
to be to be in the presence
of the One who dwells in light.

They became afraid
that day
but soon discovered
the depths of His love
that all was not lost
He had already forgiven them
and promised them
that One would be born
who would restore life
as it was meant to be
eternally.
And the One to be born,
the Deliverer
He would crush the serpent’s head
and the original plan of living
and not dying
would be restored.

Rahab

Every male traveler knew where to find her
when they came to town
just a few miles beyond the Jordan River
on the wall of Jericho
she made her home.
So when Joshua sent two spies into the land
she no doubt wanted to entertain them
but she soon discovered
they were on a different mission.

Soon the king of Jericho
heard of the men’s visit that night
and sent to Rahab saying,
“Send the men who are in your house
because they have come to search out our country.”
But Rahab decided, she was going to defect.
She quickly hid the spies and told the messengers
the men left at dark when it was time to close the city gate
and “I don’t know which way they went.
Pursue after them quickly so you can catch them!”
And the men did just that
but Rahab had brought the spies to the roof of her house
and hid them well beneath the flax.
So she went up to them and said,
“Listen, I know the Maker of all things living
has given you this land.
I have heard how He dried up the Red Sea for you
and how you conquered
as you went along on this side of the land
and when we heard our hearts melted
and we lost courage
because your God is the God of the Universe.
Now promise me that you will show me kindness
as I have shown you kindness
that you will not destroy me and my father’s house
give me a true token.”

So the spies gave her their word
and the token of a scarlet cord.
As long as she had the scarlet cord
hanging outside her window
and not reveal their plan,
as long as all her family were in the house
they would all be saved.
That night Rahab let the spies down
the city wall by a rope from her house
and they told Joshua all that happened.

When Joshua and the spies and all his men
and the seven priests
who bore the seven trumpets
before the Ark of the Covenant
and the Levites who bore the Ark
marched around Jericho seven days
until the walls fell down,
only Rahab and all her family were saved.
And now look! Rahab is a foremother
of the long awaited Messiah.

Talk of the Town

There's the woman the whole town has been taking about!
Act like you don't see her
she's coming this way
let's turn and walk away.
No, wait!
Some men are dragging her
what has she been up to now?
She's nothing but trouble
trouble on the double!
Where are they taking her?
Adulteress! I heard one say.
Does she even have a name?
I've never heard anyone call her by her name.

They dragged her to the Wise Judge
This woman has been caught in the very act of immorality
Take a guess, look at her!
She was committing adultery!
By herself? I wondered.
It takes two to tango
does it not?

She stood there cowering,
trembling
as one of them shouted,
What shall we do with her?
A woman like her deserves to die!
Our law demands we stone her
stone her, should we not?

The Wise Judge stooped down
and wrote in the sand
then He stood up and addressed the men
Who is without sin, cast the first stone.
He stooped down again and continued writing in the sand
then the men started leaving one by one
with faces filled with shame they quietly left
dogs with their tails between their legs.
What did He write?
I wanted to know.
Oh!
The secret's out!
He knows their hidden works
that what they accused her of
was part of a plot
they too were guilty of
and many other things that they couldn't stand to read
as He stooped there recording their evil deeds.

He stood up and saw they were all gone
Where are your accusers?
Has no man condemned you?
She said, no man Lord
Neither do I
Go and sin no more.

For the first time
in a long while
she felt like a human being.
Isn't this
Mary Magdalene?

She glorified God's name
as she walked away
rejoicing
free,
from shame.

Conversation at the Well

I came to Jacob's well
in the heat of the day
no one goes to the well
at mid-day but me, I know
but who can stand those stares
that pierce through the cool morning
and the whispers when I approach?
I would rather come at mid-day
when gossipers stay home.
You would probably go to the well
at mid-day if you were me
and I know you’re glad
you’re not me.

I came to the well
at noon day
so why is Someone sitting there?
I dare not look at this Stranger.
What is He doing here, by the way?
Wait, did you
just ask
me
for water?
This is about to get
either really ridiculous
or really embarrassing.
Sir, You have nothing to draw
the water with
and,
are You really asking
me
for a drink of water?
You, being a Jew
would ask
me
for water?
Me,
a woman of Samaria?

If I knew the gift of life and who is asking,
I would ask You for water instead?
What’s this about living water
that I can drink and never thirst again?
Sir, Give me that water
so I will never have to come to this well again.
Go,
call
my
husband?
Why?
I have no husband.
How do You know
I’ve
had
five
husbands?
How do You know
the man I'm now with
isn't married to me?
Sir, I perceive You are a prophet.
I know Messiah must come
and when He is come,
He will tell us all things.

You are
the Messiah?
You are the Messiah!
Stay here, please?
I must tell all the men I know!
I will bring them to You.
I have found
the Messiah!
Come and see a Man
who told me everything I ever did!
Isn't this the Messiah?
I have found the Messiah!

Wedding Invitation

Say Yes to the Dress
Weddings
in the Messiah’s time
were on this wise.
The father of the groom chose the bride
once she agreed
they were immersed in water
on separate occassions
a spiritual cleansing
a mikvah.

Sometime after the groom to be
would await under the marriage canopy
where he would meet his bride to be
and bestow to her a precious gift
something pricey
they enter into a covenant
now they are betrothed,
engaged
to be married within a year or shortly after.
The bridegroom tells her
I’m going to prepare a home for you
then she starts preparing for the wedding
making sure her dress
and everything else is ready.

She keeps her lamp burning
brightly in the window
lest the bridegroom should come
and find her lamp not burning
'cause this would signify
there would not be a wedding.

Weddings usually took place at evening
so the bridesmaids also dressed in white
would have their lamps
trimmed and and burning
ready to light the way for the groom.
The bride knew not the day or the hour
when the groom would return
to take her to the home he has prepared
and the groom knew not the exact date
as the father was the one
who made that decision.

Once the father decided it was time
the groom and his groomsmen
would go get his bride
he would arrive with the blast of the trumpet
to announce his appearing
he received his bride
and would take the whole wedding procession
with him
where they enter another canopy
they finalize their vows
and embark on seven joyous days of feasting
beginning a new life together as a married couple.

Even so, the Father has chosen us
to live with Him eternally
He sent His son into the world
and has redeemed us
with the most valuable gift
the life of His Son
Who was baptized, immersed in the River Jordan.
Likewise we are baptized, immersed
on a separate occasion
and He has invited us
into His covenant
The Son told us,
He is gone to prepare a place for us
and has promised to return and take us
that where He is we might be there also.
In the meantime, we prepare for His return
and be a light to this dark world.
We are clothed in His righteousness
and if we are faithful
He keeps us spotless.

We, like the bride of the Messiah's time
know not the day or the hour
but one day, the Father will say
Son, go get my children
And the Son will appear
With all the blast of the trumpet
and we will go home
to that great wedding feast
to the place He has prepared for us
to live with Him through ages
everlasting.

The Bridegroom

Wedding Invitation
The Bridegroom
Immanuel
Messiah

You walked on water
You raised Jairus’ daughter
turned water into wine
raised a widow’s son to life
You claimed power over nature
turned a prostitute into a woman of virtue
You calmed the storm at sea
You were triumphant over every disease
in You the Father is well pleased.
You healed lepers, the blind, the deaf, the dumb, the lame
You raised Lazarus from the grave,
You fed more than five thousand
You conquered death through your own resurrection.

Yes, You became one of us
You healed the ear of Malchus
as they arrested You in Gethsamane
You were forgiving of your enemies.
Son of man, You were God on a mission
casting out demons who claimed to be lesions.
You spoke healing to the sick
healed the lunatic and the paralytic
healed the woman with the issue of blood
my Lord and my God,
it was You who parted the Red Sea
and spoke this world into being
You formed clay into a man
called his name Adam
breathed into his nostrils
he became a living being,
put him to sleep
took a rib from him
and then made Eve.
You gave the Ten Commandments
Manna to Your people in the wilderness
You were the Cloud by day
and the Fire by night
in You we have everlasting life.

Messiah
Immanuel
the Bridegroom.

Ten Virgins

It is evening
the burning sun has set
leaving hues of pink, purple,
and orange
in the sky
twilight swiftly brings
dark shades of night.

Ten young women all dressed in white
await the bridegroom
to come get his bride
they all have their lamps ready
to light the way for the groom.
Five even brought extra oil
in case their lamps run out too soon.

While they are waiting
it seems the bridegroom is tarrying.
The night deepens
and they all fall asleep while waiting.
At midnight, the darkest hour
the bridegroom appears
and a voice awakens the young women,
The bridegroom is coming,
Go out to meet him!
The young women quickly trim their lamps
but five say their lamps are going out
and they need more oil.
They ask of the other five
who have extra
but they don’t have enough
that they could share
so the five have to hurry to buy more oil.

Meanwhile, the bridegroom takes his bride
and they proceed
to the wedding feast
followed by the five young women
with their lamps brightly burning
and the door was shut.

As they are feasting
and celebrating
the other five who had gone oil shopping
arrive and found the door locked.
Lord, open to us!
they bang on the door crying
but He answers, truly I know you not.
Watch!
For you know not the day or the hour
The Bridegroom
is coming.

I Said Yes

The Wait (Queen Majeeda)
I said yes!
I said yes
to the dress!
Mine was too tattered,
stained and torn.
I said yes
to the dress,
it's almost
like the one
Eve wore
in Eden's garden delight
almost like a robe of light.
I said yes
to the dress,
His robe of righteousness
soon it will be a robe of light.

The Wait

Wedding Invitation
I've been waiting
like You asked me to
I can't wait
for our wedding day
I still don't know when
but You have given me hints
that it is almost here.
I can't wait to see the reception
You are preparing.
I trust You
to make the day perfect
as You took all the responsibility
to have everything in place.

My only responsibility
is to be ready You say.
It tickles me,
this is like weddings
I have been reading about in ancient times,
I love the element of surprise.
I've done all the inviting and there's more
You want me to invite,
so glad we both want it to be huge.
It took a while for me to grasp
that You have already paid for my wedding gown.

If I didn't know better I'd think
You're too good to be true
but I know You,
You are faithful and true,
so I keep on keeping all Your promises
in my heart
while I wait patiently to see the home
You are preparing for us.
I won't let my heart
be troubled
because You have
never let me down.
And so I wait,
expectantly
for our wedding day.
From my heart to Yours.
Don't forget,
amethyst doorknobs, please.
See You soon,
I love You!

This Woman Wears Light

She is clothed with the sun
and the moon under her feet
she wears a crown of twelve stars
John saw her in labor
crying out to be delivered.
and she gave birth to a Son
aho would rule the nations
with a rod of iron
and her Son was caught up
to God and His throne
but the dragon, that old serpent
was angry with the woman
clothed with the sun
and the moon under her feet
and wearing a crown of twelve stars.

The dragon hated her
for she represents all who are loyal
to their Creator
through all generations.
The dragon
that old serpent
made war with the woman
because she keeps the commandments
and would not worship him
through his false religious system
so he made war with her descendants
but they overcame him
by the blood of the Lamb
the conquering Lion
for He has crushed the serpent’s head
and the woman?
She will rise triumphant.

Unfaithful Woman

Unfaithful Woman
You see that woman riding that scarlet,
seven-headed beast with ten horns?
That woman, she’s deadly.
Murderer, liar, persecutor, slave driver,
plunderer Mother of harlots, rebellious.
That woman,
she is a pit
don’t drop in it!
😱
Sitting pretty, decked out in gold
with precious stones,
that woman is a cannibal!
Devouring the flesh of prophets
while licking her fingers and licking her lips,
drunk with the blood of the righteous
confusion, deception.
That woman,
she is a death trap
stand back!
😱
Richly dressed in scarlet and purple
but she a nuh nutt’n but a counterfeit!
Abomination of desolation,
she’s vicious run for your life
that woman is the devil’s wife!
She is a ticking time bomb,
run!
😱
Thinking she shall see no sorrow
deceiving sellers and buyers
she’s a trickster, witchcraft worker
vampire!
Sucking the life out of all
who won’t worship her.
Sitting pretty from her city
but those seven heads of her scarlet beast,
those seven mountains of her city
going crash and dash into the sea!
That woman, tamper with the Decalogue!
That woman wish she was God.
Envious, blasphemous
she’s a graveyard filled with dead bodies.
Leave her, don’t die with her.
Babylon you doomed!

The Bride

The daughter,
the woman,
the bride
has endured persecutions
crucifixions
stonings and beheadings
scourgings and imprisonment
being cast in the fire
yet not consumed
being thrown in the lion's den
yet not eaten
being burnt at the stake
yet singing songs of deliverance
dragged and pulled apart
taunted,
mocked,
rejected,
misrepresented,
assassinated
but she is surviving
her vital signs are showing
see her heart is beating
and she is breathing
the living word
she gains strength
through the power of the blood
that sustains her.

Through the dark ages
her light blazed
higher and brighter
the Spanish Inquisition
could not quench her global mission
The French Revolution
could not cause her destruction
Infiltration will not be her demise
because she will survive
while giving the great commission
she thrives though executed
for not being intoxicated
with Babylon's wine.
She does not fear
the threat
to her liberty of conscience
She does not fear
the impending conflict
from her adversary
she wears the seal of God
In her forehead
in His law she meditates
day and night
and a counterfeit law
a boot leg
she rejects
therefore the mark of the beast
has no effect
on her
her name is written
in the Lamb's book of life
the Lamb slain
from the foundation of the world
and He keeps her heart beating
He keeps her singing
His blood keeps her alive
she will survive.

New Jerusalem

Blessed are those who are called
to the marriage supper of the Lamb.
Blessed are those who answer to the call
for we are all invited.
The bride is dressed and ready
she is dressed in fine linen
as bright as light.
The fine linen is God’s righteousness
given to those who love Him.

John saw the holy city,
New Jerusalem,
coming down from God
out of heaven,
prepared as a bride
all adorned for her husband
radiant
and sparkling like a clear jasper stone
as clear as crystal
with walls made of precious stones
with streets of pure gold like transparent glass
and the glory of God is the light
and the Lamb is the city light
and the nations that remain loyal
to their Creator
walk in the light
of New Jerusalem
and the kings of the earth
bring their splendor
for they have accepted
the atoning sacrifice
they have been purified
by the blood of the Lamb
and those who live there love God
for they have kept their robes spotless
by the blood of the Lamb
and there is no night there.

Blessed are those who have answered the call
to the wedding feast
for they keep the commandments of God
and the Lamb
who is Alpha and Omega
will give to those who thirst
water
from the fountain of life
abundantly.
And they will eat
from the tree of life
bearing a different fruit
twelve times a year
with leaves for the healing
of the nations
all nations.

Blessed are those who are called
to the marriage supper of the Lamb.
Blessed are you who respond
to the invitation
to the wedding feast of the Lion
in heavenly Zion.
