The Story Behind the Album – A Pandemic Poetry Project

Poems like these flow as a result of a global quarantine. While the world was under lockdown, and we were told we were safer at home, I was writing and recording poems in my home studio. The outcome is my latest album, Wedding Invitation – a blend of spoken word poetry, music, and dramatic sound effects. I call this my pandemic poetry project. I wanted to highlight and uplift women in the Bible. Society may think the Bible is patriarchal and that women were/are to be treated as second-class citizens but not so with the Creator who sees us as equal.

I wanted to show that women had and still have great influence. The theme of the woman is very central to the album. I was also heavily drawn to Matthew 24 and 25 then and felt almost compelled to record an album bearing the theme of the woman, and the great wedding feast. The album tells a story woven into a tapestry of love, with scenes at times depicted through my poetic eyes.
